Future: You Are Responsible for It

Future: You Are Responsible for It

A farmer went out to plant bean seeds one day and at the end of the planting season, he discovered he had done everything wrongly. He was angry and gave up on his effort. He gave the farm to another man, who saw his mistake and corrected it.

In life things happen in ways that we never planned and large percentage of it happens as a result of our carelessness. There are so much mistakes that should have been avoided, but they happened any ways because we were insensitive to our faults.

The future is a day ahead of today which is known as tomorrow. The outcome of our tomorrow's accomplishment is based on our today preparation. Don't ever think tomorrow will take care of itself, rather you take responsibility on how you want it to be. If it doesn't work according to plan, take responsibility and plan again. You are responsible for your future.

Don't gives excuses, but take the challenge of action. As much as you are responsible for the kind of food you take, you are also responsible for the things you do. Your future is in your hands. What you make out of it depends on how you want it to be.

Everyone is looking into the future. Scientists undergo daily research with facts and inventions that has made the future better than now. Years ago, computers were massive with less function. Now, almost all homes have a laptop which is portable with more functions. This is how scientists have been able to leverage on the future. Years from now will be better because further research are in effect on how to improve life.

If you must improve your world or future then you must spend quality time on research., which gives you the time for development. The more development you experience in a specific aspect of your life, the better you become in that area because your future reflects your mind picture.

Every great man have a specific future they have carved out for themselves and they remained consistent in it. It's like an artist drawing an image. The image is firstly in the mind and made visible on paper by consistent drawing of lines, shapes and colour to form the actual image. The same way, you must consistently work on your area of expertise that you want to see the best result. This represent a part of your future that must be actualized.

Leadership vs Management: Is One Better Than the Other?

Being an excellent manager doesn’t make someone a strong leader. We’ve all run into someone who uses the titles interchangeably, and it can be frustrating.
Knowing the difference leadership vs management helps you understand your role in your organization. By recognizing the difference, you can sharpen your abilities so that you can reach your fullest potential. Knowing what separates managers and leaders can also help you figure out how to achieve the best balance of leadership and management qualities.
In this article, I will explore the similarities and differences between leaders and managers, and help you figure out how to get the best of both worlds.

What are leadership and management?

A leader’s power comes from their ability to get buy-in from others. They use their influence to challenge norms and guide innovation. As Drucker implies, leaders sometimes bend the rules to spur change. Peter Drucker aptly puts it:1
“The only definition of a leader is someone who has followers. To gain followers requires influence but doesn’t exclude the lack of integrity in achieving this.”
Managers ensure that employees conform to standards and adhere to policies. They make sure that the goals of their leaders are carried out. They are capable and responsible, but their contribution to organizations is strictly by-the book.2

Key differences between leadership and management

Focus on goals and vision vs. Focus on tasks

Leaders are oriented toward their company’s vision and goals. They look at the big picture and come up with new ways to actualize their vision.3 When leaders try new things, they always tie their ideas back to the company’s mission.
Managers are task-masters. While they may care about an organization’s vision, their job is to stick to policy. Managers carry out the big ideas for their organization’s leaders.

Sell it vs. Tell it

Since leaders are always on the cusp of innovation, they have to convince others that their ideas are worthwhile. Remember, they gain their authority by encouraging others to buy into their line of thinking.
On the other hand, managers don’t have to sell an idea because their role is to enforce policies. If someone steps out of line, they can fall back on procedures. Employees do as their managers tell them.

Take risks vs. Minimize risks

Anytime you try something new, you must take a risk. Leaders take risks by default because they often push for change.
Managers are put in place to keep risks to a minimum. They make sure that workers are doing what they’re supposed to do in the manner the company tells them to. When problems arise, a manager may take the problem to leadership to amend policies.

Encourage vs. Instruct

The lines between management and leadership blur here depending on how the manager approaches their duties. Ultimately, leaders offer encouragement to employees to think outside the box and see the big picture.
Managers usually have clear guidelines about different aspects of their workplace. They may provide encouragement, but their main job is to tell you how things are supposed to be done. They’re the person you turn to when you want to figure out the best way to do your job.

Go against the grain vs. Go with the flow

Leaders need to challenge the status quo or else their organization risks stagnation.4 They try new things to see if they can be more effective. They work to align company policies with the company’s vision.
Managers, on the other hand, maintain the status quo. They’re doing their best work when they are enforcing the guidelines set out by the leaders.

Motivate vs. Approve

When you try new things, your risk of failing increases. Leaders must be motivated, and they’re great at keeping others motivated. They tie everything they do back to the company’s vision. When a company has a strong vision, a leader can use it as a rallying point for inspiring employees.
When you’re managing people, your main objective is to decide if something passes muster. Managers look at their subordinates’ actions and determine whether they meet the standards set out by the company.

Break the rules vs. Follow the rules

Leaders have to play fast and loose with the rules to get ahead. Rules are often too rigid to allow for innovation, which means that leaders frequently bend them. When a company or organization is badly broken, leaders may disregard the rules entirely.
If a manager wants to keep their job, they stick to the strategies set out by superiors. Bending and breaking the rules undermines their position, which can weaken the company.

Inspire trust vs. Expect control

When someone is guiding you through uncharted territory, you must have a certain level of trust in them. A strong leader is excellent at inspiring trust to take people to places they’ve never been.
Managers’ authority rests in their ability to have control outright. You don’t have to like or trust your manager to do what you’re told. Managers expect and need control to do their job well.

Foster ideas vs. Assign tasks

Leaders thrive on making improvements by trying new things. They foster new ideas and free thinking because this supports their aims. They know that if they can encourage more people to think outside the box, the collective brainpower of the group will drive more innovation.
Managers can’t encourage free thinking because they wouldn’t be able to fulfill company expectations. Telling people what to do is the only way they can ensure that employees will do what they’re supposed to in the way they’re supposed to do it.

Is one better than the other?

As you may have noted, there are some stark differences between leaders and managers, but leadership and management are complementary.
Leaders are risk-taking, innovating, game-changers. Managers are by-the-book maintainers of the status quo. That doesn’t mean that it’s better to be one or the other.
Companies need managers and leaders to run smoothly. A lack of management puts organizations at risk for falling out of compliance and not meeting goals. A lack of leadership leads to a stagnant and uninspired workforce.
Leaders and managers may exist at opposite ends of a spectrum when it comes to authority, but they’re on the same team. A leader can have a grand vision, but without managers to carry it out, the vision won’t be realized. Managers have to adhere to standards, but if they aren’t inspired by leadership, they won’t be able to share their vision with the workforce.

How to strike the balance between leadership and management

There’s a happy medium between leadership and management. In some cases, you do need someone to perform as strictly one or the other. The best authority figures know when to apply leadership and management to greater and lesser degrees.
When to use leadership skills:
The degree to which you’re able to use leadership skills depends on your workforce and your company’s way of operating. If your members are clear about the team’s vision and goals, they’re more likely to be inspired by a leader.
For an authority figure to lean more toward leadership, they need to be able to trust that workers are already fully aware of and compliant with company policies. If you constantly have to babysit your team members to perform basic tasks, it’s going to be difficult to encourage free thinking.
When a team is made up of dedicated individuals who understand their roles, you have more leeway. They’ll be able to handle innovation and creativity while keeping up with their responsibilities. When a leader can enter into a dialogue with workers about company policies, they can come up with new ideas together.
When to take on the role of a manager:
When you’re new on the job, you need somebody to tell you how things should be done. Managers are an absolute necessity when your team members are new. They can help workers figure out how to do their jobs in the most efficient way possible.
Managers are also excellent at figuring out how much employees are capable of. They know that giving them too many responsibilities can have a negative impact on their performance and morale. They safeguard employee productivity by understanding how each person works and responds to stress.
Organizations always need managers to help employees with uncertainties that they may have about their work. The manager is the person who can show you where to find a procedure in the handbook. They take the mystery out of the work so that employees can meet company expectations.
Running a company made only of leaders would be like herding cats. Having managers run the show means that you’ll get a lot done, but you’ll never get better. Organizations need managers and leaders to reach their full potential. You can’t have one without the other.

How to Build a Virtual Assistant Team

The people you hire have the potential of making or breaking your team. A lot of businesses take resort to hiring virtual assistant services as a way of reducing costs. Whether your project is in an immediate need of being completed or not, it will be highly beneficial for a business owner to steadfastly build a team of highly-skilled VAs in advance. It is not easy to find professional, responsible, talented and quality virtual assistants.

Below is the rundown of some important items that a business owner should consider to build a team of VAs.
Hire the right fit
One of the most important steps to a successful relationship with your VAs is hiring the right person in the first place. For this you will have to conduct a proper interview that will enable you to filter and vet for the best VAs. Even though a business owner is hiring virtual assistants as performing a specific task, they should create a better interview process that will allow them to assess the hard skills and soft skills of the candidates. By not finding the right people for your business, you may run the risk of ending up spending more money, time and energy than you might have expected.
Define your tasks
One of the mistakes several business owners make is hiring too many VAs at one time. Before deciding on the number of the VAs you should list down what tasks you want to pass off to a virtual assistant and what tasks you feel you would love to do in-house.
Hire VAs From The Same Geographic Area
It makes no sense to hire someone in a different time zone if you need to reach them during your 9 to 5. However in order to have an access to expertise and skills that may not otherwise be available in your country, you can hire virtual assistants from across the globe.

Keep constant communication
You don't have control over how a virtual assistant completes the tasks, and it may be possible that a business owner may not ever meet them in person. Here communication can be beneficial for both the parties. Communication helps in building a stronger remote working relationship. Today there are several technological tools that are of immense benefits to manage your team of virtual assistants. Apart from email and texts, face discussions (i.e. over skype or Viber) can be used to communicate with them in an effective manner.
Share your company's vision
It is of utmost importance that you should let your virtual assistants know about your company and its vision. If a virtual assistant does not match your expectations, it's usually because they are not in a position to grasp why they are there in the first place.
Hiring VAs provide the business owner with the necessary skills and expertise that they need for their organisation. You need to take a number of factors into account, including the expertise required, the number of virtual assistants, and how you want to structure the team. Each of these factors is a determining factor in building your virtual team.

Setting Up a Small Business in 2018 - It's Not All About How Much Money You Have

When you think of starting a business, the first thing that comes to mind is money/capital. Of course, you need money to start a business, even if it is very little considering the fact how easy it is to start a business in the digital age. However, there could be many other factors that affect a business in today's digital economy-some you show serious concern to and some you don't really pay attention to much.

Blockchain Is Affecting All Types of Businesses

One of the biggest concerns for today's entrepreneurs before they start business is probably blockchain or crypto technology. The world is seeing the rise of crypto technology and how it is being integrated into the existing business ideas. A little more than a couple of years ago, you must have heard the term "bitcoin". From bitcoin, people still believe that blockchain is all about digital currency i.e. money in the digital world. However, this is far from truth. Blockchain is expected to affect all types of businesses and industries in the world in the coming days.

It is a technology that redefines the security aspect of many businesses in 2018, introduced decentralization in modern business technologies and benefits the end consumers in multiple ways. For example, you could launch a gaming platform where no one needs the existing currencies. You could launch your own platform with your own money today. You don't really have to start everything from the scratch; instead you could base your currency on the existing blockchain platforms like Ethereum. Through ICOs, you could have investors from around the world invest in your idea. So, blockchain is definitely a consideration for all businesses starting in 2018 and the coming years.

Physical Warehouses Are Not Necessary

A few years ago, only a certain types of business could be called truly online businesses. For businesses where products have to be stored for some time, a complete online presence was not the solution. Entrepreneurs who had such business ideas in mind had to have enough money to have their own warehouses. However, this has also changed quite a bit in the past couple of years. With the idea of drop shipping becoming common with time, it is becoming easier for businessmen to start their own businesses without much investment.

In a drop shipping model, all you have to do is collect orders from customers, forward those orders to the manufacturers or suppliers and have the goods shipped. You only act as a liaison in this particular model because it is the supplier that sends the products directly at the customers' doorsteps. You will still need an online store with all the products listed for customers to see. However, you don't need any warehouses because you don't have to own, buy or store any products. The good thing is that this model now allows drop shippers to offer much more competitive rates so penetrating into the market is easier for them.

Big Data Is the Big Difference

Another technology that has been influencing business decisions and the way businesses operate is big data. While the term "big data" seems that you are referring to just large amounts of data but in reality, you are also referring to the methodologies and technologies that are in use to handle big data. You will be completely wrong to think that traditional software and hardware solutions can deal with big data in any way. Let's take the example of a bank. A bank could have hundreds of branches located all around the country. In these hundreds of branches, the bank will have hundreds of thousands of customers.

The bank has account information of hundreds of thousands of these customers. In addition to that, the bank is constantly investing in stock and foreign markets, storing and utilizing that information. The same bank handles the data of all micro and macro loans it is forwarding to its customers. It is also storing information about customers through its mobile application to know what customers expect from the mobile website. On all of those hundreds of branches, the bank also has CCTV cameras collecting terabytes of footage on a daily basis.

Do you think all this data goes to waste? No, the data bank collected from banks is utilized in making bank branches securer. Data from mobile devices helps bank refine their mobile application. Data collected through financial softwares helps a bank improve its insurance, loan, mortgage, etc. offerings. It may seem on the surface that big data is a headache for big businesses only, but big data is just as important for small businesses as well. What this mean is that businesses starting in 2018 will have to have a big data approach right from day one.

Internet Security Is the Biggest Threat Now

It is unfortunate that rather than making the world a safer place, the new technology has led to greater internet threats. Cyber attacks are becoming more frequent with time, and much more sophisticated too. In the past few years, cyber attacks on some of the biggest companies of the world, including tech companies have proved that security has to be the major concern for every business-small, mid-scale or large. If you think starting a new business or having a small business gives you any advantage over large ones.

As a matter of fact, it's the small businesses that are at a higher risk when they are under any type of cyber attack. This is because large businesses have the technologies and capital to fight the attack, recover and get back on their feet again. On the other hand, small businesses usually don't have any of that.

Final Thoughts

The challenges for any small businesses in 2018 are much bigger and technology-related than they have ever been in the past. The need of the time for small business owners in 2018 is to say goodbye to the traditional thinking and embrace new technologies to be successful. They must also remember that in the modern age and coming years, every business is (like) a tech business to some extent due to its dependence on technology to collect customer data, create marketing campaigns and secure customer information.

How to Repel Negative Energy Other People Send Your Way

Thoughts become things. We usually think about the things we want to manifest in life. Why is it that in spite of all the positive thinking and positive manifestation, negative stuff happens to people? Any ideas? Read on to find out.

The answer simply lies in the fact that there are negative people around you radiating negative energy your way, rebuking you in their minds and wanting the worst for you.

How did these people become so negative and opponents? Somehow somewhere in your attitude and conversations with them, they have been hurt and in return they want to hurt you. Worse still, some may be gossiping behind your back, talking ill of you and implanting a bad impression of you in others.

When you realize you are in this situation, stop playing victim and take charge of the situation. Say to yourself aloud, "I cease to be a victim."

Then face all the adversities, bracing yourself for the worst. That way the worst scenario will never show up. Your courage and brevity will erode the souls of your rivals and enemies. No longer they are the strong party and their negative energy radiating power will begin to diminish as well. In fact, they will even begin to feel helpless.

You can further fortify your surroundings by giving a benevolent speech to the people that matter most to you. Mention all the causes you believe in and how you want them to join in the quest of making the world a better place. You can include short anecdotes and humor stories from real life to better communicate and establish a rapport with these people by making them feel good. Talk about what you like to give away and contribute, persuading and convincing them to do something similar. Soon you will have a mob of supporters supporting you in your mission on this earth.

What happened to those previous rivals and enemies? Are they able to radiate any negative energy anyway now? Are they able to put a curse on you anyway? No, not all. Their group is divided up. Not all support them. What more, the main group will slowly chip at dispersing away to nil. They will see no point in harming you. You have a strong group out there to support and cheer for you. Those negative people have been immobilized and halted.

This is exactly how you repel the negative energy sent out by negative people your way, who have nothing better to do other than wishing for your harm and destruction. So I advised you earlier not to play victim role. And that is the start to take charge and skyrocket in life, accepting the love and affection of the people in your community who adore you and at the same time giving to them something generous in return. Thoughts do become things after all. Ha ha!!

Consider Your Personal Brand

In a modern World of Facebook, YouTube and connected consciousness in all it’s forms – platforms that provide extensions of consciousness that pervade the new reality of a physical World mixed, and often distorted, with a complex and hyper-connected cyber World – we must be more self-aware than ever.

Everyone should be thinking about their personal brand – what it means to them, and what it says about them to the outside World.
I’ve become particularly interested in this subject as a result of my mission to bring positive change to the World by realising my vision of humanity at it’s best, striving to be better, and thriving through understanding how to interact with each other in a quality and meaningful way so we can work together to solve the meaningful problems we find ourselves faced with. I was introduced to the principal of being a ‘Key Person of Influence‘ by Daniel Priestley’s book by the same name (click the link for more details). I read this book whilst on holiday in Italy, and it provided some revolutionary insights for me about how to build my personal brand, and why it was important.

Whether you’re in business or not, this is something that should be on your radar. The benefits of becoming a key person of influence in business and your professional life are fairly obvious – the most exciting projects, the highest fees and the best opportunities always end up with key people of influence. Why is this? Quite simply, because they are seen, known and trusted in their respective market place, and furthermore are seen as experts in their field. Why wouldn’t you want to work with an expert who you feel like you know because you see their content everywhere? Become a key person of influence in your industry, and you won’t be worried about finding or keeping work so long as you provide a fair exchange of perceived value to your clients with excellent customer service.
However, you’re not off the hook if you are employed and have no plans to change the World anytime soon.
You’re even more unlucky if you’re a millennial… because it’s more than likely that 100% of your life is on-line, and what’s on-line is timeless – a fact few in recent generations seem to realise or appreciate enough!
These days, employers use peoples Facebook profiles and other social media information that is publicly available to get a more solid idea of who job applicants are, what their values are, and whether or not they will be a good fit for the role they’ve applied for, and be a good fit for company culture. There is so much information about us on-line with most people using social media platforms heavily and regularly, and so everyone should be considering this when they’re posting information and updates to the various sites that act as adverts for their lives. Your Facebook and LinkedIn profiles are now part of your CV – whether you like it or not!

This is exactly why everyone should be thinking about their personal brand, and working to nurture it into one they are proud to present to the rest of the World – it’s going to be presented to us anyway, so it’s well worth putting the effort in to get it right.
The first thing you need to do if this concept is new to you is to decide on what your key values are, and to write them down. This should be a set of guiding principals by which you consistently live your life, and that result in actions that match those of the person you are working to become. If you don’t know what these values are, or you have a rough idea but they’re not specific or clear enough in your mind, then you have no way of knowing if you’re behaving in a way that’s serving your higher purpose in life. Before you fire a gun, you need to make sure it’s pointing at the target…
It is then important that you review your social media activity to date, and be honest with yourself as to whether or not the way you’ve been advertising yourself is congruent with the way you want to be seen, derived from the values and guiding principals you’ve just written down. Some of it will be positive, and some will be negative – don’t get hung up on the stuff you don’t like the look of, just make a mental note and be sure to avoid repeating behaviour you’ve now identified as negative. Do more of the stuff you like, and that is in line with your goals.
Be sure to rave about the things you’re doing that are exciting and that demonstrate character and personal growth – these things are so valuable, and serve to inspire countless others to greatness as well as promoting your passion and thirst for life at your best. Let people know what you’re experiences are, and what key learnings you’ve derived from them – how have you grown? Share your story – we all have value to add to others through our stories of our unique perceptions of our experiences.

The more you show up as the person you want to be, the more you become everything you desire. At the very least, it’s important to be aware of how visible we all are on-line these days, so you can filter hat you share with the World and decrease the possibility of any negative content having a detrimental effect on your life, either in making new friends, building your professional network or finding your dream job.
No matter who you are, where you live or what you do – look after your personal brand, and your personal brand will look after you. Showing your true character, passion and drive through your personal brand is a great way to open doors for new and exciting opportunities in life, and it’s a fantastic way to meet like minded people who share your passion and thirst for living.
You’re amazing, and the World deserves to know about you so shout from the rooftops!

One Simple Talk That Will Change Your Life...

You want to be an entrepreneur? You shouldn't be. Well, at least you shouldn't optimize for it. Your main goal should be to live a good life and then everything else should only support that vision. Entrepreneurship, or whatever else you do for your career, is just a means to an end. Far too many people often focus on the wrong things, and then before they realize that they got burned, it's too late...
